About My Classes
Yoga is the union of mind and body, bringing balance and harmony to all the levels of your being. My classes use the yogic postures to stretch, limber and tone the body which promotes flexibility whilst building core strength. You will also discover the stability and centring which comes from utilising your own breath and at the end of each class, experience the deep peace of a relaxation. So, whether you are young or old, stiff or supple, there is something of benefit for everyone. I run my classes as a course, so that true development can take place, but also offer a more expensive drop in option.
All the yoga equipment is provided by me and the sessions take place in newly refurbished halls with excellent facilities.
Great Grips, Unlocking The Bandhas
It’s been a lot of fun exploring Moola Bandha, breaking it down to its component parts in order to make it truly accessible. This was done by working with it very intensely at a physical level before moving our awareness to the energetic level. Lots of Kapalabhatti and Agni Sara have also been deployed to hone our techniques too.
Since January, we've incorporated Jalandhara Bandha into our practise adding it together with the root lock on the retained breath (kumbhaka) both after inhalation and exhalation. And, there are definite camps of preference amongst my Students about which retained breath they feel more comfortable applying those bandhas. Latterly, I've started the classical Ujjayi Pranayama which seems to have an affinity to Jalandhahara Bandha, further growing our skills.
So what about the summer term? Well, the natural progression quite obviously is Uddiyana Bandha and the application of Bandha Triya. Just think of all the Pranayamas which we can then learn once the 3 bandhas are in place! We might even reach Maha Mudra and Maha Veda Mudra next term or will that form part of the autumn term I wonder? Certainly I'd like to have Bhastrika safely under everyone's belts as part of the package.
There is just so much to learn, so much to experience, so many fantastic tools in the yogic toolbox all of which are there for our healing and development. Please do come and join in.
