Preparation for Practise
Find a quiet, warm place where you won't be disturbed. As long as the spine is straight, you can be lying down on a yoga mat perhaps with the head slightly elevated on a cushion if it feels more comfortable. Others may prefer to sit or kneel, in which case, use blocks or cushions under the pelvis to keep the knees to the floor below the diaphragm. If you're not comfortable you'll fidget loosing concentration, so your choice of posture is really important. A full stomach and/or bladder will likewise detract from the experience. Your body temperature can drop too, so please think about socks and maybe a blanket. Turn your telephone off and enjoy the experience!

Here is a really lovely practise, one of the Shatkarmas or Kriyas, listed in the Hatha Yoga Pradipika. Take the time to set up your candle and meditation posture as instructed, then sit back and enjoy. hari OM
